Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

LITA does not yet have any formally approved partners. This page sets out LITA’s partnership framework: the types of relationships we are seeking, and the principles we apply before describing any relationship as a partnership.

What we mean by “partner”

Attending a meeting or event, informal cooperation, shared geography, historical contact, or discussing a proposal does not make an organisation a partner of LITA. A partnership is only published here once the relationship, its exact description, the approving LITA officer, the supporting evidence, and an approval and review date have all been confirmed.

Relationships LITA is seeking

LITA has no approved partners in any category today. These are the types of relationships we are open to exploring, subject to the principles below.

Government and civic

Local, state and federal government bodies, and civic institutions.

Precinct and business

Businesses and business groups connected to the Little India precinct and Melbourne's Indian business community.

Program and event

Organisations that co-deliver or support specific LITA programs or events.

Community and education

Community organisations, cultural groups and education providers.

Our principles

Partnership principles

Independence

LITA remains an independent, member-led association. No partnership may compromise LITA's ability to represent its members' interests.

Member benefit

A partnership must offer a clear, articulable benefit to LITA's members, not just to the partner organisation or to individual officeholders.

Disclosure

The nature of any relationship, including funding, in-kind support or reciprocal commitments, is disclosed to members and, where appropriate, publicly.

Conflicts management

Committee members and officers declare any personal or financial interest in a prospective partner, and are excluded from approving relationships where a conflict exists.

Written approval

No relationship is described publicly as a partnership until it has been reviewed and approved in writing by the Committee, with an approving officer, evidence source, approval date and review date on record.

Propose a partnership

LITA welcomes approaches from government and civic, precinct and business, program and event, and community and education organisations interested in working with us. Every partnership is reviewed and confirmed before it is described publicly.
